In our Regular Singles Simplified pages we attempt to
show each face different stamp issue only once. Perforation,
booklet format, coil format, gum, color and other varieties having
the same face design, are considered equivalent and space is
provided for only one example.
The Regular Singles Complete album is intended to show all major
stamp varieties issued in sheet and coil formats. To maintain a
measure of completeness, booklet stamps are included when they
don't exist in sheet or coil form. However, we have a strong
conviction that booklet stamps should be collected as unbroken
panes. Thus, for the collector who wishes to properly collect
booklet stamps, a separate White Ace album is available for full
booklet panes.
If production of a stamp is moved to a new printing firm, the
process almost certainly involves starting over from conventional
art, or re-composing electronic art and typography. The
preparation of electronic files for output will likely differ from
the process used in the prior printing and will result in an image
that is slightly different. Additionally, it may be printed on
different paper or have changes in perforation or die cut
measurements. Because of these differences, the USPS usually
changes the date printed at the bottom edge of the stamp, so the
origin of the stamp is unambiguous.
This is the fifth release of the Navajo Necklace design, and the
first time as a coil stamp. As it differs little from the prior
versions, it will not be included in the Regular Singles
Simplified pages, but will be included in all our other White Ace
Regular Issue albums.
In the White Ace Plate Block Albums, a plate block is considered
the smallest block (of 4 or more stamps) that can be taken from
the margin of the sheet, that contains all stamp designs, and has
attached selvage bearing a plate number. If more than one such
block can be removed from a sheet and the plate number is adjacent
to a different stamp design in any of these, then each such
example is shown in our Plate Blocks Complete pages. In our Plate
Blocks Simplified pages, any such plate position can be collected.
In most cases, there will be two rows or columns of stamps
opposite the plate number. (This definition may vary somewhat
where there is a particularly attractive header or illustrated
selvage or where there is more than one plate number along the
same margin of the sheet).
The Herbs sheet stamp has a pane layout similar to Latin Music
Legends (2011); Gulf Coast Lighthouses (2009) and Pacific
Lighthouses (2007). By our preceding definition of a plate block,
this sheet contains 3 different plate blocks of 6 which we will
show as we did for these comparable issues.
For se-tenant coil stamps we have always shown a strip
containing two sets of the stamp designs in sequence, with the
plate number on the last stamp of the first set of stamps in the
sequence. Thus, for the Herbs coil we call for a plate strip of 10
with the plate number on the fifth stamp from the left. This
arrangement is consistent with our treatment of several previously
issued se-tenant coils (for example, the 2008 tropical fruit
coil, 2008 Flags coil, 2007 Beautiful Blooms coil, 2006 Crops
coil, 2004 Eagle coil and the 1999 fruit berries coil).
As Lady Liberty & Flag ATM pane and double-sided
convertible booklet panes are booklet stamps, which were preceded
in 2010 by identical coil stamps, we do not show any of these in
our Regular Singles pages, although they are included in our
Regular Issue blocks and plate blocks pages..
Our last Airmail supplements for Singles, Blocks and Plate Blocks
were published in 2010, and included the last of these issues
through 2009. Only one airmail stamp was issued in 2011, and none
in 2010, so we do not have a sufficient number of such issues to
release an Air Mail Supplement in 2012.
Only one Distinguished Americans Series stamp was released in
2009, and our last supplement contained all of these issues
through 2008. As there are still an insufficient number of
issues to fill a page, no supplement for this specialty will be
released in 2011.
