In our Regular Singles Simplified pages we show each different face design only once. In this Format Guide, we indicate that we will show only one example each of the non-denominated 55¢ Wild Orchids stamps.
The Regular Singles Complete album is intended to show all major stamp varieties issued in sheet and coil formats. To maintain a measure of completeness, booklet stamps are included when they don't exist in sheet or coil form (and only then). Where we show booklet stamps, the full pane will be shown if it contains se-tenant designs.
We do however have a strong conviction that booklet stamps should be
collected as unbroken panes. Thus, for the collector who wishes to
properly collect booklet stamps that are not included in the Regular
Singles Complete pages, a separate White Ace album is available for
full booklet panes.
If production of a stamp is moved to a new printing firm, the process almost certainly involves starting over from conventional art, or re-composing electronic art and typography. The preparation of electronic files for output will likely differ from the process used in the prior printing and will result in an image that is slightly different. Additionally, it may be printed on different paper or have changes in perforation or die cut measurements. Because of these differences, the USPS usually changes the date printed at the bottom edge of the stamp, so the origin of the stamp is unambiguous. In such a case, the new variety is almost certainly included in all White Ace albums except Regular Singles Simplified. There were no such reprint issues in 2020.
For se-tenant coil stamps we have always shown a strip containing two sets of the stamp designs in sequence (space permitting), with the plate number on the last stamp of the first set of stamps in the sequence.
In the White Ace Plate Block Albums, a plate block is considered the smallest block (of 4 or more stamps) that can be taken from the margin of the sheet, that contains all stamp designs, and has attached selvage bearing a plate number. If more than one such block can be removed from a sheet and the plate number is adjacent to a different stamp design in any of these, then each such example is shown in our Plate Blocks Complete pages. In our Plate Blocks Simplified pages, any such plate position can be collected. In most cases, there will be two rows or columns of stamps opposite the plate number. (This definition may vary somewhat where there is a particularly attractive header or illustrated selvage or where there is more than one plate number along the same margin of the sheet).
